Amen
Good Morning!
V1.6 was released with a few bug fixes and feature improvements which are best summarized in our end of February news release post seen here. Wonāt rehash them here.
V1.7 will likely be released next month as it is currently being tested by the internal WAZER team. It has a few minor fixes and improvements which will include things such as a cut cost estimator, improved auto-pierce functionality, and a new tab and cut path UI. We will also be pushing a handful of new cut materials into the database across a variety of thicknesses at about the same time in May.
We acknowledge we still have work to do on getting you guys some highly sought after features such as saving layouts and manual control over cut path order. Unfortunately, these require more substantial code undertakings than just writing the features as a result of not having written the original code with this in mind from the beginning. As a result, these features will not be coming until late this year in a more substantial update to WAM.
Any other feature improvements that havenāt yet been discussed that I can bring up to the team? Maybe they can slot them into the next release after V1.7.
Any materials you would like to see natively listed in the WAM database over the coming months?
This is great. Iāll try not to speak for everyone, but this is the kind of update we were all waiting on. Actual progress, along with planned updates.
This kind of thing is exactly what keeps customers on board. We moved our shop around recently, so I havenāt gotten around to setting the machine back up, but I can say that this will definitely make the experience a little better. A great deal of faith was restored seeing this.
As for additional materials, I know brass was mentioned recently as being on the website but not in WAM. I havenāt checked this myself, but comparing website vs. the software would be a good starting point for that.
I think one of the main things we all want to see is the ability to save files. Iāll give a really big example that has been utilized a lot in my workflow: BambuLabs. Their software, similar to others like Prusa, allows you to safe your file as a .3mf file, which saves all the data as a part of that file, similar to a project or plate file in other programs. This kind of thing is necessary to make the Wazer a more useful tool.
Thank you!
OMG this software is such HOT GARBAGE!!! Has anyone on the Wazer team used a waterjet or any type of industrial equipment before? WHY IN THE WORLD would you not have the ability to select each vector and offset the cut inside or outside by X?
What a waste of money this has been. This machine is nothing but a time suck. I run multiple CNC mills every day with FULL 3D CAM and it takes less time than getting a SINGLE cut file prepared. PLEASE FIX THIS SOFTWARE so that this machine is usable.
I agree with Upgrade. The inability to designate inside/outside/on cut parameters for each individual vector or at least create groups is egregious.
You guys did a great job getting this thing made and accessible. Enhancing it further based on user requests has been a total insult to the regular users.
There is a new option on the horizon!!! Check out the HydroBlade page on Insta!!! It uses a real program to control the machine!!! You can actually do things with it!!!
@Lance Can you provide a link? My search results show a machine shop in Louisiana and some crazy waterbike looking thing.
Their website is thehydroblade.com however there isnāt much there except email sighup. check the instagram thehydroblade.
Has there been any progress in making WAM into a usable program? This is entirely unacceptable. Wasting time developing material lists and releasing a bigger better machine that will still be limited by this garbage software.
Does getting this software sorted even rank on your list of things to do?
HA!! Not bloody likely. Personally Iāve given up on any effort by Wazer. Iām waiting for the new machine by Hydroblade which is coming on Kickstarter next month. From the look of it, it has everything wam doesnāt . Dumping this dog ASAP.
Yeah, Iāve switched over to using the Fusion360 post for the Wazer. 1000% better than the WAM software. I did have to add in some new settings for other materials but at least it makes the machine usable.
In case anyone wants to use F360 for Wazer, Iāve created a quick start instruction, and uploaded a wazer post, and wazer tool so that you can use Fusion 360 with the entire current material database. This is the fastest and most reliable way Iāve found to use the wazer without dealing with the shortcomings of WAM.
i could not get the lightburn add ons to work is there an update and or detailed instructions
is there a procedure for those of us who have suffered with this garbage software which makes using the wazer impossible, to return the thing I have not used my wazer in over 4 months just too much frustration and wasted time
Iām really having good luck with the fusion360 route. Iāve finally been able to use the machine to make back about $1000 of my initial investment. Wish I hadnāt wasted 300lbs of garnet before getting to this point but now that the software is out of the way, the machine works great for small jobs and building parts for fixtures. Mostly aluminum and steel, but even titanium has been working well for me.
I do not do well with any autodesk products. they just sort of go against what i think make sense and everything is so different from other programs but i did check into fusion 360 and bought it so since my wazer is just a pile of junk taking up space i might try fusion again. WAM just drives me crazy. i probably have two years left at most and wasting time with wam crashes and misc bullshit aggravates me beyond belief. the whole process is so fucking stupid it is not possible to get anything right the first time or maybe even until about the fifth.
i think someone gave a cheat sheet for using fusion i would like to try that ?
i would actually prefer that wazer refund my money, i can use it to pay for cancer treatments.
looks like i bought fusion at a time when you could buy it now it is $85 a month, no thanks. the version that i bought no longer works. typical autodesk crap.
you should be able to test it on a personal use license. last I checked it was like $495 for a commercial license.
thanks but not interested it looks like wazer is finally listening to the people who have been screaming about WAM and have fixed a few issues with more to come. maybe some day it will actually be a decent program.
