I have a project that I am working on and would appreciate advice on tab placement or not. The material that I am cutting is 3 mm glass. Attached is a picture of one of the letters in my design and I have placed tabs at the bottom of the “A”. They are .125 in size. My issue is the triangle in the center. Because I will cut several of these at a time, I would like to place a tab, however, the triangle is small. The overall size of the letter is about 1.25 inches so the triangle is relatively small and I want a nice edge in the opening. Would you put a tab(s) on the triangle and, if so, how large of a tab? If you suggest multiple tabs, how large? If you don’t suggest tabs, would pausing the cut each time an “A” is cut and remove the triangle work? Thanks for your advice!
What I normally do in this situation is closely monitor the cut - once the small triangle cut is finished, pause the cut, remove the triangle, and then resume it. I can only recommend it for one-offs or parts/lettering that don’t have that many pieces like this.
You could try running the job without pausing or a tab on the triangle and let it blown away and into the bottom of the tank. I’d maybe raise the cut head a smidge so you’re less likely to get the triangle stuck between the material and the cut head.
