Hello, I briefly touched on some ideas I had for 3D printable accessories for the Wazer Desktop in another thread and I thought I’d include some photos and the link to the files. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7420085
I don’t know about anyone else, but I can’t stand not having a place for all the screws and screwdriver to live within reach when I’m not actively holding them. Maybe the tool control drilled into me from years in aviation, but a place for everything and everything in its place is big. So I made a tray.
Another issue I had was repeat hold downs. I had a hard time not only finding holes for the screws to go in to hold the glass down (especially the same size pieces) but as the area was cut repeatedly, I found the glass was more likely to break or the tabs pop and the pieces be either thrown across the chamber or end up in the void. So after a few iterations, I made a jig that can be screwed down and then a sacrificial insert dropped in to support the glass and the glass held down with any one of 8 holes that are small enough to hold a thread. I also made some eccentric washers to act a adjustable hold downs. I can get anywhere from 3-6 just jobs on a single insert before its too cut up to keep using.
And finally, the new one. If a piece of glass came loose, it tended to end up down the sides and in the bottom. Ideally, the cut pieces stay where they are supposed to, but when they don’t, it becomes a chore to either find it or a waste to recut. So I made some pop in pieces to go between the side of the cut bed and the wall. This is a little bit harder to get right than the other pieces because the bed isn’t perfectly spaced side to side and I wanted an interference fit. Ultimately what I went with was a basic design and then stretched the piece on the x and y axis to get the width and length I needed and left the z axis alone. So far, so good, haven’t lost any pieces since with the unexpected benefit of the machine being a little quieter.
Some quick points: all of these are printed in PETG on a Creality k2 plus but can be sized to whatever printer you want. Any with the mesh look (the sacrificial inserts and the side covers) are printed with 40% grid infill and 0 layers top and bottom.
