I came here to seek answer whether lead ins can be used without tabs, upon which I found older question answered that it was not possible. The answer explain why is it not possible but I think there is no reason to leave a tab for a lead in to be calculated at specified point. Every other water jet CAM I used had such option. Also, it is very limiting to have only the short lead in. On materials like laminated carbon fibre sheet where piercing often causes delamination it is essential to have longer lead ins. Please, incorporate these features or point me to alternative CAM option. At this point, WAM is way too limiting for comfortable work.
While you are correct that there is no way to place a lead-in without a tab, there is an easy workaround you can use to accomplish this! In step 5, simply set the Tab Size to 0 before you place it on the part - this way a lead-in will occur at that location but no tab will be left when the cut is complete.
To increase the length of a lead-in you will need to create a custom material setting matching the default settings of the material you are using, but with the desired “Lead In/Out” value.
